 La la la...

I'm playing hooky from work. Finished making some gels and running a few quick tests on them. Then skedaddled at 2:30. Hopefully, no one saw me leave. Hee.

 My crappy day

Spent most of the day getting the bro settled at Columbia.

Ugh. Nasty nasty nasty. They had people living in those dorms until "a few days ago," but Thing 2 said that her friend had stayed in one of the dorms until yesterday. Whatever the case, the housing and maintenance crew at Columbia need to be lined up and shot one by one. NASTY. The floors were way dirty, with sticky spots (uhhh, don't even want to speculate on that), and the trash bins in the rooms were still filled with someone else's crap. When I grabbed an RA and demanded a vacuum, I was told that there was only ONE for three dorms. The guy came back twice to tell me that he couldn't find it, thought there was one in that dorm, then could only find a broom (threadbare and gross) and a dustpan. Um... dude? Using a broom on carpet? Yeah... right.

Then there was the bro bitching and moaning about how he's going to be a monk for the next month because Thing 1 refused to let him borrow her laptop even though she barely uses it, and because the dad refused to let him bring my TV fearing he would just hide out in his room all day. But there were some fun moments. "Fun." The guy sitting at the security desk was an ass. He kept asking to see ID to let us in (on MOVING DAY), and then he felt it was necessary to advise us that Room 735 was actually ON the 7th floor. Like, dude... thanks, because you know.... for a second there, I was pretty sure it was on either the 5th or 10th floor. Fucking dumbass. And someone from that wonderful housing office screwed some girl over. Poor girl got stuck on the boys' floor because her name was "Shane." LMFAO.

But even with all the issues we had with the program/school/costs/expectations vs. what we actually got, I couldn't help but wonder how different my life would be right now had I ignored that insane itch to "just get away - far far far away," and chosen to attend Columbia undergrad. I was thisclose to sending in my deposit. *sigh* As a city girl deep down inside, I think I might have been happier in the long run (and the dad might have been a bit prouder with the Ivy League status). But hindsight... is shit. :-(

Speaking of shit....
Only in the city. And only to ME. On the way back to the car, we were trying to avoid dog crap on the sidewalk when I heard a plop and splatter.

Dude.

DUDE.

#$$#^& !@#$#$^&*&% #^&*$%^#$@$!

Some fucking pigeon plopped right near us and I got residual splashing on my arm. GRRRRRRRRRRRRR. DAMN FUCKING A!!!! At least it wasn't in my hair (friend had that happen to her when we were at the zoo a few years ago). And then the mom was all "you're lucky today; we need to go buy some lottery tickets."

Dude.

Not.
Funny.

Anyway... it was just a tiny bit, so I wiped and didn't touch anything. Showered as soon as I got home. But I still think I may be a walking contagion right now. BLECH.

But getting home was awful. Had to drop off selfish little Thing 1 on the east side because she refused to hang out with the bro for another hour to help him get acclimated even though she only lives like 40 blocks away just because... duh... "I don't even know where I am or what trains stop by here... blahblahblah whine whine whine whine (because I'm a fucking idiot who's only been living in the city since February and other than catching the subway to get to work, I'm clueless as to how the public transportation system works around here)"

Uh... okay... I added that last part myself. Bitch. She really is such a whiner. Did I mention she came back from the Bahamas orange? ORANGE, dude. With white splotchies on her face. And her body is basically two large white stripes and three large brown stripes from her bathing suits. I know it's mean of me, but she is my sister, and as the eldest, I have every right to do this:

BWAHAHAHAHAHA
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Oh man... bwahahahahaha.

Hey... at least it wasn't as bad as when we were kids and she had a black and white suit that had both a polka dot and striped pattern on it. The girl had polka dots all over her body for a good two weeks. LMFAO. I'm laughing with love and affection, of course. :P

But... oh, right... anyway... there was also a Gay Pride parade today. So we went from the west side to the east side to drop off the bitch (who wouldn't even let me look at her MP3 player). Then we had to get from the east side back to the west side to get home. Except... the parade was causing traffic nightmares for those trying to get crosstown and get through SoHo. Damn stupid parade planners. I had to sit through an hour traffic last night because there were film crews in Tribeca screwing things up, too. So you know... two days of city traffic hell made for a very unhappy Pooh.

Anyway, I'm home now. Showered, and smelling nice and fresh. But knowing that I have to work tomorrow is not making me any happier. The boss won't be there, though, so as soon as I'm finished with my work, I'm so out of there. Hopefully, I'll finally be able to sit down with my DC dvd and get all shipgasmic with the PJ. Sigh.

Updated the blog links to add Robin's LJ. Dude. Seriously, people... STOP.

From Robin's LJ:

Um... Uh...
No, I'm not. I'm perfectly happy inside and outside.

*sobs*

Blah blah blah...
Bro's going to Columbia U. tomorrow for his summer program. Everyone's running around trying to get his crap together. 5 weeks without the bro. 5 weeks where I can jump on the fam computer and not have to worry about ousting him from his Counterstrike games just so I can use the good computer. 5 weeks of bliss.

But... 5 weeks without a SG-1 and Coupling watching partner. And 5 weeks without a partner in sarcasm. (I've been tutoring him in the finer points - not that he really needed any help) :-(

EDITED TO ADD:
Holy flurking shit.
Thing1 just came back from the Bahamas.
She's orange.

So I mentioned my exhaustive research for the best MP3 player for me to some guys at work and one of my bosses. The boss thinks I should just spend a little more on a PDA that can play MP3s.

Pooh and organizers just don't mix. After all, this is a girl who had three different organizers or little notebooks and used them all a week each before forgetting about them. I still can't remember where I put the tiny electronic organizers. Blah. Besides, who needs one when the PoohBrain is like a info-sponge? Well, okay... most of the time. When the reservoir of trivial crap doesn't get in the way and pushes the important stuff out.

Anyway... now I'm on a search for PDAs. Dude. I'm a girl. I don't have the brain capacity to do all this research on MP3 players and PDAs, and THEN actually decide on which one I want. Grrrr.

One you know how I mentioned last night that it would be funny if V and Lancer came on at the same time and had a geek orgy on the taggy?

Yeah. I take it back. Those two are never allowed to be on simultaneously. You hear that, boys? NEVER! At least not when I'm not around to supervise. I don't trust either one of you. *boggles at a V/Lancer geek love fest that lasted almost an hour*

I did, in fact, know that there were different types of USB. Not a complete moron, you know. :P

V is right about one thing, though. If the Pooh can't stand you, you either get ignored or are the target of her bitchysnarking (not to be confused with the good snark). So whoever tried to impersonate me... you lucked out. Tag-board no longer had your IP on file this morning. *cough* Lancer, it's going to take a lot more than virtual flowers to make it up to me. Hmph.

By the way, thanks to the guilty party for making my evil twin a bit skanky. Now I can live vicariously through her. Heh.

"I don't know who's impersonating the pooh but it can only end badly."

Damn straight. And for that, she's going to ignore every one of you for the entire weekend. Hmph. From now on, there is also not to be any geektalk when I'm not online. None. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Pfffft.

Lancer and V, your little deal won't fly. Pooh is an equal-opportunity screamer. *sends scathing emails* You'll both have to buy ME drinks. One and Jenai, so do the two of you - for encouraging them. Hmph. Hmph. And... HMPH!

P.S. For the record, no one is crushing/inlove with Pooh. No. One. So shut your pieholes. *rolls eyes*

Heh.
It needs to be July right now. Time to get my Freak on, ya know. :-P

Eh. I'm whiffling on the MP3 player now. Sigh. Hate being a grown-up because all decisions - well, most decisions - come down to "money." Ick.

And speaking of the green stuff...

I couldn't post all day yesterday because of this?? The "new and improved" Blogger is almost exactly like the old one, just with different colors and a very slightly different setup. Bah.

I am thisclose to spending very hard-earned money on a MP3 player. The 5 GB IPOD costs about the same as the ones I've been looking at, but um... what the heck is a Firewire port? *she asks, knowing perfectly well that geek questions inevitably end up in a geek tag gropefest (as evidenced last night)* Edited: DumbassPooh knows what a firewall is. Stupid keyboard.

What the hell? First Alias with the time jumping, now 24. But hey, as long as it's a way to easily and quickly dispose of Kate (dear God, don't let the Jack and dumbass Kate be married in the 2 years fast forward) ... then by all means, jump ahead. Because really. Get rid of her. No one cares. Seriously, Kate, just leave already.

Yay!! *dance of joy*
Lancer's back. Missed you bunches! *smackity smack for old time's sake* :D

Patent searches all morning, and then I get to play with slabs of meat in the afternoon. Can a job be any better? I think not. Thank goodness for artificial, recycled, air-conditioned air. It is way too hot to be outside. Bleh.

The plane tickets for Chicago are booked. Woohoo! Now... where else should I go? Who else can I visit? *looks around*

And finally....
I have a special portal on my work desktop that provides daily horoscopes. Part of today's reads: "practical considerations should only add to the sense of specialness that you're still carrying."

Awww. I'm special.

 This is bad.

Very bad.

First, seems like Continental doesn't like being Pooh's Bitch. Damn site only worked for Jenai. Blech.

Second, now that I'm spending non-existent money on airplane tickets, I want to buy a MP3 player. Heh. Amazon keeps tempting me. It's EVIL.

Third, I still need to pay my bills. Sigh.

So... anyone have any recommendations re: mp3 players? I'm so confuzzled over them. I'm also being serious. Right now, I haven't been able to get any recommendations out of anyone, and that's the only thing keeping me from splurging on one. Blech.

 All righty.

Not much to say. All of a sudden, it's sunny and HOT. Not just any hot. Humid. So incredibly humid, it may as well be raining. *sigh*

Luckily, I've been watching my Coupling DVD and laughing my arse off. Once again, thank you to Meg for introducing the show to me. I've been digging through my inbox and laughing at all the emails you sent me about the show. I seriously thought you were psycho when you first started doing it, but now that I've watched a few eps, I can be just as insane as you are. ;-)

Connie, I'm still scared of watching the US version so it's still sitting on the harddrive. The S2 DVD is supposedly coming out next year, and they start filming S4 next year, too. Woohoo! *crazy laugh*

Ugh.
Had another 8 AM meeting today. You know, there are three times of the day when meetings should be forbidden: early morning, lunchtime, and late afternoon. So you see, there should be NO meetings. Never. EVER. Not that it really mattered. Since I can't take too many OT hours anymore and the boss was out today, I cut out at 2. Hee!

Bah. Back to... doing something or other....

I fell asleep on the couch.

Oy. I'm getting so old. Can't even do two days of waking up at ungodly hours for work without having it catch up to me on the third day. TGIF. I'm so getting my ass out of here early.

On a happy note: My SG1 S3 dvds came in the mail yesterday. Woohoo! They're not the DC dvds, but they're still good. Instead of shipgasms, I get my snarkgasms. Yum.

Oh, oh, OH, OH!!!

Guess who I ran into yesterday? Had to stop by the school library to pick up some articles for work since they didn't have the right journals here.

Guess.

Guess.

GUESS!

Hint: These little buggers procreate like a mofo.

RABBIT!!!

Lmfao. It was so weird, too. We just ran into each other in the science library and had a little chat. I didn't mention how strange it was to see her in the library, cuz, you know... the kitchen and bedroom seem to be more familiar grounds for her. Wabbit wasn't there :-( but if he had been there, it would have been even stranger. I'm talking end of the world strange. I've never seen or heard him talk about classes - well, except for the time Rabbit was yelling at him for being such a slacker. Last I heard, he was still holed up in the RabbitHole. (Wait... that didn't come out right...)

Anyway... she's still living in the same apartment. ScaryRoomie is also still there, but they hardly see each other. Which is probably a really good thing. Without Pooh and TheOtherOne running interference, it could have gotten really ugly. And apparently, she's spending a good deal of her time in the library. Trying to keep up. And catch up, I guess. See what happens when you spend all your time making cardboard cakes instead of doing your coursework? (Oh... hmm... am I Pot or am I Kettle?)

Sigh. Good times. Heh. Maybe I'll run into her again if I ever need to stop by the library.

And you all thought the RabbitTales were dead. See all the effort I put in just to entertain all of you? I went out and found her (accidentally). Just. For. You. Hmph.

It's a cult. No, really, it is.

Got to work by 7:30 AM. Woohoo. Go me.

The meeting was BORING. Well, interesting in that Jersey is the HQ for the company so all they bigwigs were at our place, and they were videolinking all associates - about 11,000 - across the US and Europe. And interesting in that all they kept talking about was hitting those double digit growth targets. Sigh. Money, money, money. That's all they care about. :-( Everyone from our campus was there - about 1,000? And we all sat facing this big screen that was set up on stage. Friend joked that it was kinda cultish. So we were hoping for either movie previews, or for someone's big face to pop up on screen telling us to worship them and drink some Kool-Aid. Needless to say, we were very disappointed. The meeting finally started with a J&J propaganda video (all about how wonderful J&J is, how they're growing at a crazy ass rate, and how they're about to take over the world - kinda like Disney. Heh. That diss was for Rosh. :-P ). No, I'm not bitter about it. I mean, what do I care that I don't get stock options as an intern, or that I don't have enough money to buy J&J stock on my own. I mean really... who cares, right? Damn that double-digit growth!

Anyway... because I was all environmentally conscious and took one of the buses instead of driving there by myself, we all got gift bags. What does a multi-billion dollar company give to its employees in a gift bag? One Reach toothbrush. Neutrogena hand cream (which I appreciate because that stuff doesn't come cheap). One pen on a string. (Say what? It's one of those clippy things with a 4-color pen hooked onto the end of an elastic pull string. So you know... we have one to hang our security passcards on, and one for our pens. 'Cuz apparently, that stuff is cool and we're all engineering nerds, and we need easily accessible pens that you can dangle from you pants and then snap back when you don't need them anymore. Or something.) And yes... mine is clipped to my pants right now, if you must know. :-P

Ugh. Gotta do it all over again tomorrow. Only for an even more boring meeting. On site and no gift bags. Sigh.

Yummy

Can't snark on Keen Eddie because I love it so. Lovely wonderful eye candy. Pippin was hot. Eddie was hot. What else is new? Oh, right... Mark Valley all rumpled up in a t-shirt and PJ bottoms... rowr. But you know... would have been so much better without the shirt. And bottom. *whistles innocently*

*scribbles "Take me" on pieces of paper*
*passes out to Jack, Jack, Jack, Pace, Sark, etc.*

Heh.

And V...

Shut up. You don't remember NUTTIN'!!

Besides... I haven't tried to set people up OR gossiped in.... um... what day is today.... I mean... I'm soooo beyond that. I'm, like, mature, okay?

 Blech

Had a 3 hour intern luncheon today. *yawn* And then we got forced into doing some stupid icebreaker, which I would just as soon forget. It was not a very successful experiment, and everyone at my table (these three guys who show up in my lab sometimes, and me) kept laughing and screwing around with it. All I have to say is: How YOU doin'?

*shudder*

Anyway, they forced us to sign up for committees. Somehow, I ended up joining the social committee... *pauses to LMFAO* I am the most unsocial person. Ever. Oh, sure, I'm a wild woman around friends and sorta-friends, but with a bunch of strangers? Bwahahahaha.

Tomorrow I have to be at work by 7:30. Did you get that? SEVEN. FUCKING. THIRTY. AM. All so I can catch one of the buses to take everyone offsite to some big convention hall where everyone in all the Ethicon branches around the world can be hooked up via satellite for the big Business Update Meeting. Gawd. Can't I just sleep in?

Then Wednesday I need to be at work really early again for some meeting for the entire R&D division.

Know what sucks about being an adult? Meetings. I'd like to hurt the genius who came up with the concept of "meetings." Really hurt them.

ARGH

Damn bro and mom (with Thing 2 being a nosybody) are arguing over his "need" to take a driving course. It's the fault of all the Jersey lawmakers who decided that teens now need to drive for exactly 6 months with a permit before they're allowed to take the test. Because of this, the Bro is being all pissy because he "HAS to get his license" as soon as possible after his 17th birthday. If the jackass hadn't slacked off on calling the schools for the past two months, he wouldn't be butting heads with the mom and the dad (and the nosy Thing2).

And wouldn't you know it... I want absolutely no part of the argument, yet they keep finding ways to continue their yelling in whatever room I decide to hide in. Seriously. LEAVE ME ALONE!!

 Only in Jersey

The Devils' Stanley Cup celebration was today. There's nothing like a parking lot celebration in Jersey. Didn't get to go, sadly (well, not so much since it was mad humid and hot this morning), but did manage to catch a bit on TV. I don't care what everyone says (mostly jealous Rangers and Flyers fans who will never ever see The Cup in their state again). Jersey basically is a parking lot, so having the festivities there makes sense. Besides, who wants to have some stupid parade where all the superstar divas sit in their little convertibles or floats and pass all the little people standing there watching them? At least this way, it's more like a carnival atmosphere. It's more personal. There's a stage, some of the players get to speak, and you get to meet them (and their families) up close and personal.

For the record, my guy looked especially hot today. More so without the nasty playoff beard. Hee!

Okay... back to watching Parker tapes. (V, if you want them online, you'll need to get me that superfast new computer and some software. Just like you promised, remember? :-P )

I hate work. Work sucks. Pretending to be an adult who has to work sucks even more. (Pooh didn't leave work until almost 7. On a Friday. On a Stargate Premiere Friday!!)

SG1, however, does not suck. Nope. Not one bit. Jack!!! *swoon* Jack with his P90!!! *thud* Jack and his snark!!! *dies* :P

Unlike the PoohSnark on Alias, however, I just can't do it with this show. Sigh. I get all giddy and happy and non-snarky. Mostly because Jack does enough snarking for the both of us. And then I'm too busy being all huge-stupidass-grin-y to snark on it. I did mention my disgusting sickness right? RDA grins; Pooh grins. Damn Pavlovian reflexes. Grrr.

I don't have anything against Michael Shanks or Corin Nemec. I want both of them to stay on the show. Michael because he's Daniel and he was there first. Corin because he's Parker Lewis, dude. *makes mental note to dig out Parker Lewis tapes, heh*

But what was up with the hair? Corin's and RDA's? Sigh. Oh, well.

Meg, I'm making a note to remind you when Adam will be on the show. :-)

In other news....

 Growing old sucks

I told my KindaBossDavid that I've caught myself listening to LiteFM (my FATHER'S station). He laughed at me, and told me I was getting old. Blech. Then after he left, I turned up the speakers in the crappy lab and found some random radio station online. Luckily, I was in there by myself, but then this other guy came in and made some kind of stink about how I probably spent all day searching for that one station, and then he LAUGHED AT ME. I'm sensing a theme. Okay... so it turned out to be some station playing soft rock and pop songs from the 80's.

I. Am. So. Fucking. Old.

But hey! I was listening to NPR for a little bit before the music....

No... wait... that doesn't help my cause, does it? *sigh*

 Not much to blog about

Got halfway to work when I remembered that I forgot my security badge. Traffic was backed up the other way so I had to take the long, circuitous way home. I was an hour "late," but BossCarrie is at the Pooh's alma mater today for this project thing, so I'm just going to say that I was on time. Yesterday, she kept me half an hour later than I was planning to stay just to pick my brain regarding transportation/campus/blahblahblah details. Dude, I've seen the maps; the campus looks a bit different, but it's scary how much of the general stuff I still remember. (V, I think you'd agree with me. Sigh... good ol' Ridge Ave. Heard about the condos on Foster. WTF is up with that?) Because she kept me late yesterday, I felt it was my duty to leave a half hour early today. Heh. I am such a slacker.

Had the "Perfect Strangers" theme song running through my head all day. I think I was actually singing it for awhile. Luckily, I spent the entire day in another lab by myself, so no one can prove it. Ha!

My ear was really clogged. I think it's better right now, but I'm just really scared it's going to screw with my hearing. Permanently. Yeesh. Would be nice to have some health benefits so I could go see the doctor. Sigh.

Forgot to mention that the SeattleFriends and I watched "25th Hour" and saw this guy who used to work HouseStaff with us in college. (*sigh* Work-study. *shudder*) Heh. He had a little cameo, but he was pretty good. Really strange to see people you know in movies, especially when you have a whole buttload of embarrassing stories about them filed away. One of the PoohFriends thinks he's also in a Sportscenter commercial, but I haven't seen it yet. It's now official. The Pooh knows someone who can really help her do her stalking... um... admiring... yeah, that's it.

So, yeah... this FreakFest thing... Still happening? Huh? Huh? HUH? I'm bummed because people are dropping out, and I already told my boss I'd be out those days. Also, I turned down Turks and Caicos with the extended fam for the Fest. Then again, it wasn't that hard of a decision. Turks&Caicos, the family, and the necessity of purchasing a swimsuit... or... DC with friends and a risk of being mugged? See? For someone who suffers from chronic indecision, it was way too easy.

 Filched the This-or-That-Tuesday from Rach:

1. "The Munsters" or "The Addams Family"?
"The Addams Family"
2. "The Sopranos" or the "Godfather" movies?
"Godfather" movies. Never watched an ep of "Sopranos" in my life, and don't intend to.
3. "The Jetsons" or "Lost in Space"?
"The Jetsons." Definitely.
4. "Superman" or "Batman" (either the TV shows or the movies)?
"Batman," the movie, but only if Michael Keaton is Batman.
5. "Sex & The City" or "Friends"?
Neither. I am so over "Friends" even though I love Joey. May have to start SATC, though.
6. "The Wizard of Oz" or the "Harry Potter" movies?
Oz. I just don't get Potter. Whatever. *yawn*
7. "The Simpsons" or "King of the Hill"?
Simpsons, please.
8. "Grease" or "Saturday Night Fever"?
Hmm... "Grease"?
9. Old prime-time soaps: "Dallas" or "Dynasty"?
I'm guilty of watching both, so I can't choose. Hmph.
10. Not very thought-provoking this week...do you prefer TV shows or movies?
Uhh... TV shows because I don't have to wait a year (or years) to see the next ep (or sequel).

Wow. That was boring.

My Summer Vacation... by Pooh

*does Dance of Joy* (and if you can figure out that reference... that's pretty much the topic of conversation of my last day and a half in Seattle. Yes... we're pathetic.)

So I spent a good 4 hours at the airport on Thursday because no one could give me a ride later. That was fun.... not. Then sitting coach for a 5 hour flight was even more (NOT) fun. Luckily, I had the window (though I prefer aisle) and there was no one sitting in the BitchSeat. The inflight movie was Daredevil. *cough* Bwahahahaha! What a horrible, horrible, horrible movie. Ben Asslick as a superhero? Uhh... yeah, ok, whatever. Jen did her Sydney shtick. The movie did that being in the middle, flashback to the beginning, yadda yadda yadda, it must be a requirement in any JenGarner movie/TVep thing, blah blah blah, kill me kill me kill me. *yawn* But Colin... Colin was cool and the only good thing about that stupid movie. Thank goodness I didn't pay for headphones and just used my own. Also, left in the middle of the movie to stand in line for the tiny bathroom and didn't miss one damn thing.

Seattle was wonderful, although I was disappointed that it didn't rain at all while I was there. It was, however, HOT. 90 degrees, sunny, and sticky. Gross. I wanted Seattle weather, dammit! Apparently no one has air conditioning in Seattle. WTF. What's up with all the walking and nature and fresh air crap? Everyone knows it's all about driving everywhere and artificial air. Anyway... Friend's graduation was fun (but long and boring, as are all graduations). She's a doctor now. *seething with jealousy* Also am a bit upset that my gift (Cross silver pen and pencil set with her name and title engraved on them) didn't arrive before I left since I wanted to see exactly what I got her. Oh well. Got to see some friends again, and two friends I haven't seen since senior year of college. It was.... strange. Especially since one of them intimidated the hell out of me when we first met. He doesn't anymore, only because he keeps sending me ALF and Bob Saget pics, and who in their right mind would be intimidated by a guy who does that? (Sidenote: Just tonight, while watching Keen Eddie, I realized that if Mark Valley put on a little beard and wore a baseball cap... he'd look almost like the friend. This revelation sucks BIG TIME because the friend has had a gf for years. Hrmph. Stupid PoohFriend. LOL)

Didn't really do much except hang out and participate in that really strange Seattle coffee thing. For a person who doesn't drink a lot of coffee, it was really weird to see at least one coffee shop on almost every street. I think one had 5 coffee shops. Makes absolutely no sense to me. Didn't get to go to Mount Rainier, though, which sucks. But we did participate in the Seattle International Film Festival. We went to see "The Secret Lives of Dentists." Yeah, the name wasn't too tempting, but dude... Campbell Scott. *thud* And Denis Leary, who is always a trip. It was actually pretty good, and we got to talk to the director after the showing. That was pretty cool. The friends took me out to eat Ethiopian food, because I missed out the last time they went, and that was fun. Sometime during dinner, though, we started discussing old TV shows, and there was this totally uncalled for heated debate over the exact steps for the Dance of Joy. For those of you who don't remember, it's from "Perfect Strangers." Of course, we went home and tried to Google it to see if there was a clip. Ever since Lancer linked the "Small Wonder" eps, we were convinced that it would only take a matter of seconds to find the Dance of Joy. Well... we were wrong, but we did find this. Dude, it's the theme song, and I can't believe I actually still remembered the words. ALL the words. Every. Single. Fucking. One. Of. Them. *shudder*

Ugh. I can't believe I just admitted that. Yep, that's right. You heard it here. Pooh and Friends have absolutely NO intellectually stimulating conversations. All we talk about is crap. CRAP!

Anyway, there was more coffee drinking. More hanging out. More talking about absolutely nothing. I got the whole "move to Seattle, DAMMIT" spiel from every single one of them. Again. Sadly, I don't think they have any jobs for me in Seattle, and even if I were to move there, I would never be able to get that whole coffee culture thing. (The MarkValley-lookalike friend was trying to teach me the lingo. *hangs head* I am a very bad student.) Oh, and all my friends there are living with their significant others, which SUCKS. I hate being "the single friend." HRMPH.

And that was pretty much it for this trip. It was way too short, as always. The plane ride back to Jersey was a lot better than the ride to Seattle. Again, my row had an empty BitchSeat, although I was stuck in the window seat again. It's normally not a problem. I just hate having to climb over people when I need to... not sit. Of course, if there's a really nice/hot guy sitting in the aisle seat, then it's certainly, most definitely not a problem. Unfortunately, both times, they were both very nice older men. (Oh, wait... I have a thing for older men, right? Hmmm. Crap. Should have taken advantage of the situation then. Grrr.) Finally got to see "Chicago." It's as good as everyone says it is. Yay!

The jetlag didn't hit me until I was in the car on the way to work this morning. Gah. Never drive when you can't keep your eyes open, and your brain feels like it's two steps behind everything else. Very bad. But then... I was a bit preoccupied with making plans for my next trip out there (November, I think), and the Europe trip in April that the friend and I are planning on doing. I can't wait. *dance of joy*

Pimping out the Friends

So while I've been slacking off in grad school, some of the friends have been starting their own companies. My "MarkValley" friend does this: e-wizdom.com for a living, apparently. Another friend swears by the site. Whatever. Heh. And his girlfriend (grrrr... if only she weren't so nice....) makes journals (amanobooks.com). They would make really great gifts. Hint hint.

Hmm... wonder if I can get commission for pimping out their sites... *sees prices listed on sites* Eeeep! *makes note to demand commission from friends* Heh. :P

 EDITED:

Had to put the Kief pic on top. I don't know what I was thinking putting him all the way at the bottom. *shakes head* Stupid jetlag.

Okay, really off to bed now. Pooh's totally pooped, and she must work tomorrow. Blech. And double blech that I spent the first two days in Seattle converting time to JerseyTime and now I'll probably spend the next few days converting time back to SeattleTime. This coast-to-coast thing sucks. No, wait... just Jersey sucks.

*looks into moving west*

Ack, no clue what I'm babbling about. Must. Sleep.

Oh, Captain, my Captain.

Damn. It sucks to be the younger brother, doesn't it?

I don't care who he's sleeping with. Marty's just too damn cute.

Hubba!! Hot, sexy men at hockey games... Rowr!

 Helloooooo, Jersey!

I'm back.

My right ear won't pop. I've got a sore throat. Just checked email and found a message from a girl I haven't heard from since senior year of college (but apparently has been on both Blind Date and ElimiDate). I now have one doctor friend, two entrepreneurial friends, one teacher friend, one photographer friend, and one non-profit friend.

And yes...

I am still a slacker.

*rubs sore butt* Damn that kick in the ass. *goes looking for Motivation and Initiative*

More on my boring trip later. Right now, I'm going to brace myself for Game 7 letdowns. After that, I think I'll...

*snores* Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

P.S. To all board crashers who partied on the blog while I was out of town: Get out, and don't forget to clean up. Hmph.

 Signing on from Seattle....

Having fun relaxing. Just hanging out with two friends and friend's mom. Haven't seen the other friends yet, and just a bit scared since I haven't seen them in years. Eek.

Oh, and it's HOT and SUNNY. It's disgusting, really. I miss my cooler, rainy Jersey. (Yeah, I know... crazy, but Pooh and Sweat are not on good terms.)

Missing all of you. *hugs, kisses, tackles and jumps everyone* Heh.

Am saddened to see that the FreakFest is seemingly falling apart. Dude. *cracks whip* What's up with that?!?

Hmm... dropping off that brain thing quiz from Trix's blog (loser's getting an LJ. Hahahaha :P )

Your Brain Usage Profile

Auditory : 38%
Visual : 61%
Left : 38%
Right : 61%

Pooh, you possess an interesting balance of hemispheric and sensory characteristics, with a slight right-brain dominance and a slight preference for visual processing.

Since neither of these is completely centered, you lack the indecision and second-guessing associated with other patterns. You have a distinct preference for creativity and intuition with seemingly sufficient verbal skills to be able to translate in any meaningful way to yourself and others.

You tend to see things in "wholes" without surrendering the ability to attend to details. You can give them sufficient notice to be able to utitlize and incorporate them as part of an overall pattern.

In the same way, while you are active and process information simultaneously, you demonstrate a capacity for sequencing as well as reflection which allows for some "inner dialogue." (Oh, yeah. Pooh and TinyHeadVoices are on very intimate terms.)

All in all, you are likely to be quite content with yourself and your style although at times it will not necessarily be appreciated by others. You have sufficient confidence to not second-guess yourself (Say WHAT?), but rather to use your critical faculties in a way that enhances, rather than limits, your creativity.

You can learn in either mode although far more efficiently within the visual mode. It is likely that in listening to conversations or lecture materials you simultaneously translate into pictures which enhance and elaborate on the meaning. (Hee! *cough* Um... very true.)

It is most likely that you will gravitate towards those endeavors which are predominantly visual but include some logic or structuring. You may either work particularly hard at cultivating your auditory skills or risk "missing out" on being able to efficiently process what you learn. Your own intuitive skills will at times interfere with your capacity to listen to others, which is something else you may need to take into account.

Hmmm.... very interesting....

All righty. Must get off. Gotta get dinner. Talk to you guys soon!

EDITED TO ADD:
*jumps for joy* WEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! Go Devils. One more game to go. :D

It's still rainy and cold in Jersey, and will be for the rest of the week.

It's going to be sunny and hot in Seattle.

Is anyone else confused?

Well... I'm off. Toodles. :)

Where are you guys? Dammit. I'm off to get a life (shut up, One :P ) and you two are nowhere to be found. Heh.

I miss you all already. *sniff*

V, you should show up in Seattle. To have all of us together again would be... interesting. LOL.

So... last minute things: If you need to get in touch with me (...WHY???), use the PoohMail. Unless you're special and you know one of the gazillion other emails, then you can use those, too. ;)

Have a great weekend, and talk to y'all on Monday. :-)

 Damn the Forces against me!

I had a plan. It was a very good plan. A simple plan.

Then Nature foiled me. Blasted bitch.

Today was the perfect weather for cuddling (the PoohBear) in bed: dreary, dark, cold, rainy. Instead, I got my ass out of bed at an ungodly hour and was ready to leave for work at the time I usually roll out of bed. Should have been simple if executed properly. Which it was. Except for one thing -- the stupidity and uncooperative nature of drivers everywhere and... well... Nature, that sadistic diva, herself....

The rain was especially bad today. Spinouts everywhere. Flooding along all highways. But you'd think people would know how to drive in the rain by now since it's ONLY BEEN RAINING FOR THE PAST TWO WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Instead, I've got bozos who were driving like they've never seen or heard of "rain" before.

People, wipers on = lights on. A fucking easy concept to remember. I couldn't see half the cars on the road today because the dumbasses wouldn't turn on their lights. Just because YOU can see doesn't mean everyone else can see you. I can't tell you how many times little ol' me was driving along at a rather steady speed only to see the backend of a car come seemingly out of nowhere. Grrrr.

So now I'm here... with less time than I thought I would have before I have to meet the Big Boss to find out what I have to do for him. Then need to write up that stupid report, analyze, and summarize the results. Argh.

Anyway.... just thought I'd post all that just in case One is checking to see if I made it to work this morning. Heh. Dude, you were so right about me being so screwed. A line in my horoscope today: Work will throw you a curveball. UGH.

Not sure how busy I'll be tonight, but I'll definitely try to get on for a bit. Come on and say hi or wait until Monday night to catch me. I know you'll all miss me terribly. :P

I had this really long blog entry typed out detailing the suckiness of my day today and of my day tomorrow and how I'm going to have a nervous breakdown.

Then I accidentally hit the "back" key on the mouse, and lost it all. *bangs head*

So... long story short:

~ Yesterday's testing ran long today.
~ Today's testing got interrupted by the boss and kinda-boss wanting to talk about the test results from yesterday/this morning.
~ Testing further delayed due to be forced to join a conference call (which was funny... involved all three of us laughing hysterically - while desperately trying NOT to laugh - at the stupidity of some freshmen students from my alma mater, but I won't get into it here.)
~ Had to rush home to take Bro to a school concert and help Thing 2 pick up her car from dealer.
~ Plan to stay late to finish up all of today's testing fell through.
~ Found out Bro actually needed to be at school at 6, not 6:30.
~ Got home, no dinner, had to pick up Bro again, took sis to pick up car.
~ Got home again. Said "screw it" to dinner.
~ Was supposed to do laundry, start packing, go to mall to pick up last minute things. Did none of that. Tomorrow night will be an all-nighter, probably.
~ Must wake up extra early and really go in early tomorrow to finish today's work so I can do the Big Thing for the Big Boss tomorrow before I leave. And I can't stay late tomorrow either because I have an appt at 7:30.

I had a plan, dammit. I had a schedule!! Pfffft!!!

And damn blogger for losing my entry just when I was getting my rant on. I'm still kinda in shock from losing it. In fact, I think I was in a semi-catatonic state for a good minute right after that.

*sigh* One is soooo right. I'm screwed. And not even in the good way. Grrrr. This was supposed to be a vacation. A wonderful, undeserved vacation!!! And now? It's like I'm trying to earn the right to go away for the weekend. HRMPH!!

Did I mention that I had a plan????????

Also... still coughing. Throat still scratchy and gross. And now I'm breaking out. Duuuuuude.

I'm going back to my nervous breakdown....

|| posted by Pooh at 11:11 PM ... ||

 In theory...

It was a nice idea. Wake up early. Yep. Get to work early. Uhhh... damn.

I got in 15 minutes earlier than usual, but it's still not enough time to put a dent into all the things I wanted to do today. I forgot I had to get gas this morning... blech. I forgot I have a meeting in half an hour... ick. And I'm online right now, blogsurfing. Yep... my plan pretty much went to crap as soon as I woke up today.

Oh, and my throat? Still sore, still icky, still scratchy. Hmm.... wonder if it's SARS....

 No, no, no, nononononono... NOOOO!!

And no... I'm not talking about my stupid ass stinky Devils. I'm over them. Especially since I can't watch them play on Thursday. Hrmph.

Noooooo to possibly getting sick. I've been coughing on and off the past two weeks, but didn't really think much of it. But ever since I got home today, my throat's been kinda... scratchy. I've been inhaling OJ ever since, but it still feels weird. This is not good. This is SO not good. The last thing I need is a cold right before I go away on vacation. Sucks. :-(

Totally random

The PoohBro knows all the words to "Baby Got Back." That's... scary.

 Internet Withdrawal.... ackkkkk! *shudder*

The Mom ended up dragging all the PoohFam around visiting relatives this weekend. It turns out the Seattle trip this Thursday is more and more deserved. Phew.

Saturday wasn't so bad, but yesterday... OY!!

Sunday started off with the Mom and Thing 2 accompanying Pooh shopping so she could buy something nice to wear for the PoohFriend's graduation. Ended up getting a pair of pants and a nice sweater - something I could possibly wear for work, so that was very practical of me. :P Did NOT like how dressing room doors weren't thick enough to block out the Mom and Thing 2 snickering over Pooh's thunder thighs and fat ass. HMMMMMRRRRPH!!!!!!! Ptooey! *directs death glare at everyone*

Then we got ready to go visit some family in NY for dinner. Something about a holiday or whatever. Who knows. There was some bitching and moaning and massive eye rolling regarding Thing 1's whoredom (long story) and whether or not she would 1) join us, 2) meet us there, or 3) need us to pick her up. In the end, she got her lazy ass out of her apartment and met us there.

Fast forward to the trip home from dinner:
We started off with the Mom driving and the Dad having some kind of panic attack in the passenger seat. Heh. Then... about one-fifth of the way home, the Mom remembered that she left her purse at the Aunt's house. Oy!! That pissed off the Dad. And here's what sucks about Queens, NY -- the lack of proper signage for roads and highways, not to mention the constant, neverending construction that's been going on for almost a decade. The Dad booted the Mom out of the driver's seat, but we still couldn't find the on-ramp back to the highway so we could go back to the Aunt's house. We ended up back on the highway in the direction home, and the Dad decided to screw it and just go home, but we noticed that we had passed the exit we needed to get home, so we ended up trying to find a way to turn back. Dude... it's times like those that make me appreciate the Jersey jughandles/u-turns.

It was pretty late after we finally got back to the Aunt's house, retrieved the Mom's purse and got back on the highway, so the Dad was just going to drop off Thing 1 close to a subway stop and have her get back to her apt herself, which she was fine with, but the Mom refused. Whatever. (If Thing 1 can practice whoredom - long story - then she can certainly navigate the NYC subway system by herself, hmph) Anyway, we managed to get within a block of her apt and then booted her ass to the curb. So in the end, we didn't get home until a good 2.5 hours after we left the Aunt's house the first time. That's almost three times longer than what it should have taken us.

And of course, I didn't feel too hot by the time we got home. Tried to sleep but woke up in the middle of the night feeling way icky. Could barely lie down without feeling gross, so I ended up sitting on the couch, in the living room, in the dark, for a good hour just because sitting was more comfortable than lying down. By the time I returned to bed, it took me another hour to finally fall asleep. And wouldn't you know it, I slept right through my alarm this morning, and then no one bothered to wake me up. Gee... thanks.

I'm so sleepy, but I have a buttload of things to do today because the boss isn't in today. I also have a buttload of things to do tomorrow. And I just found out that I'm going to be running some validation tests for someone else on Wednesday. They say it shouldn't take me more than an hour to do it. I say: Yeah.... right. Then they need me to write it up in my lab notebook (which I haven't used in forever), and then send an email summary to my psuedo-boss on that project and the big boss by Friday because they're sending a clinical team out on Saturday to collect data based on the validated info I provide. Does anyone else see a problem with this? Hmmm.... like... I WON'T BE HERE STARTING THURSDAY!!!!

*deep breath*

Okay.... So that means I need to bust my ass to get all my stuff done today and tomorrow so I may be able to start Wednesday's testing tomorrow afternoon. Then I can run those tests, write it up, and then summarize it for the big boss by Wednesday afternoon before I leave work, or if necessary... emailing them the summary Thursday morning before I leave for the airport. Problem is, I'm thinking they would like me to go over the results at the Friday meeting, which I will not be here for... blah... so that means I'll probably have to see one of the big bosses before I leave on Wednesday just to orally go through the results with them before I send out/or concurrently with the email. *head explodes* I was so hoping I could leave early on Wednesday because I have an assload of last minute things I need to pick up/get/take care of before I leave. Looks like that might not happen. Ugh. UUUUGGGGHHHHH!!!!

*cries*
I'm just an intern. I don't need this stress and hassle and pressure.

Hmm... maybe I should stop blogging and just get going on this, huh? BAH!

Bleeecccch
I should be happy that tonight is Game 4. I would be really happy if the stupid Devils had won the last game, but unfortunately, because I decided to ignore One and Trix, and didn't come online to chat with them, One put a curse on my guys. That would explain why theu lost Game 3 due to the flukiest of goals. Won't make that same mistake tonight. Will definitely be online to appease One's wrath. *nods* Yep.

Am not liking that the lost of potential sweepage means Game 5 is on Thursday, when I won't even be on the right coast, if and when the Devils win the Cup. *crosschecks Trix* Heh.
